Westboro Baptist Church Picketing Steve Jobs’ Funeral Is Just Ridiculous | Crushable

Image representing Steve Jobs as depicted in C...               Image via CrunchBaseI hate tIhat people think that Westboro Baptist Church is an example of what being a Christian is. It's Th not. Apparently they are going to protest Steve Jobs' Funeral! It's crazy and stupid and picket a funeral - to say nothing of rude and in bad-taste. It's not what Jesus has commanded us to do or to be. According to this article the following tweet went out.

Mere hours after Steve’s passing, Fred Phelps‘ daughter Margie Phelps took to Twitter to announce that WBC will be picketing Steve’s funeral. Their reasoning? He served himself, not God; and “he had a huge platform,” which probably means that they consider his worldwide influence as a way that he used to disseminate his sinful ways. Or something. It’s bullshit.
A small consolation: Twitter noted that Margie’s tweet came from her iPhone, so at least we can add “hypocrite” to the list of insults about these insane cultists. (Margie’s defense: Rebels mad cuz I used iPhone to tell you Steve Jobs is in hell. God created iPhone for that purpose! :) …That doesn’t even make sense!)
She's right. Not only does it not make since but it's just plain not Biblical or even factual. I'm not aware of Jobs spreading sin, anymore than anyone else. Zutter is kinder than I because I can't even call their thoughts "reasoning".

  1. But, you obviously (should) believe he's in hell, right?

  2. I don't know if Steve Jobs was saved or not. I don't know. Do you? Even if he wasn't born-again and is in hell...that's no reason to celebrate or glory in it. Ryan, the thought of anyone in hell does not make me happy. MAke sure you don't end up there yourself.

  3. Okay. I didn't know that. We still don't know if he turned to Christ before he died. I hope he did. If he didn't then he went to hell. Don't join him.

Regardless, I think accusing Steve Jobs or spreading Godlessness and sin is an unfounded accusation. No one's death should be celebrated and their funeral protested. That was the point of the post.
