Wow, I should not be surprised because many Americans who are part of families that have been here in this country for centuries are also descended from African slaves - even white Americans. It used to be we went with the "one-drop" rule in America, but now that it's obvious that more people would be considered black who have white skin, no one seems to bring it up anymore.
