FacePalm of the Day #117 - Debunking Christianity: Proof Evangelicals Will Do Whatever it Takes to Continue Believing: "Evangelicals Question The Existence Of Adam And Eve"

John Loftus posted the following link to an article

They are doing what each generation of Christian thinkers have done from the very beginning. The future of Christianity will not be the same as it is today. It's just that like all other evolving organisms and systems of thought, they evolve so slowing it's hard to detect it. Evangelicals would be appalled at the Christianity of a century or more ago, and they will be equally appalled at the Christianity a century or more from now. Evangelicals, give it up. Enjoy

I am amazed but not surprised at how the article reads as if that all scientists have come to the conclusion that there is no way Adam and Eve had been real living people. It's not true. I agree that the historicity of Adam and Eve is the crux of Christianity. I think this is why people want to prove it's not true. Without Adam enslaving humanity to sin, there is no need for Jesus to have come and die for us. The entire Bible is built on  this fact. I'm not saying that we should believe the Bible to make sure that Christianity is true. There is no reason to just accept that Genesis says that  people only go back 6000 years There are good reasons to think that earth and humanity is a great deal older than that v - Scientific and Biblical. Bottom Line: There is no reason to throw the Bible under the bus in order to be rational and scientific.  Truly a FacePalm.

Race at Marvel and DC Comics: Sometimes They Get It Right - ComicsAlliance | Comic book culture, news, humor, commentary, and reviews

I realize that it's usually bigger news when the media makes mistakes regarding race than when they are actually trying to improve things and increase diversity. This is why I really like this article from Comics Alliance. It's a count down of things Marvel and DC have done to try to bring diversity to the comics Industry. They indeed some times does somethings right. It points out a couple of things I hadn't thought about - Wolverine's son is half-Japanese and Batman's son is part Arabic. I had not really thought of it that way before. And it is true Marvel has invested a lot in Black Panther -determined to make it work. Marvel and DC are trying and it is commendable

Answering Muslims: Sharia Law: Battlefield London

What's wrong with executing people because they disagree with you? Or maiming or disfiguring other people and pretend that it was God who ordered you to do it? Everything.

Captain America and Superhero Worldviews, Part 2 | Reflections

Here is part 2 of Dr Kenneth Sample's reflection on the worldview illustrated in Captain America: The First Avenger. I liked his analysis and I agree with him. I'd add in saying that the way Captain America's ethics were demonstrated reminds me of the America I've always wanted and heard about but never actually experienced. Samples is right that America is far from the Triune all-powerful God of the Bible but many moral things were there in the beginning. Rather than rugged and selfish individualism and entitlement the permeates American culture today, Captain America was very much a product of the America of the 1940s - a generation that came of age during the depression and in many ways in the movie, Captain America represented some of the best that generation had to offer. The desire to serve and protect others. The dislike of bullies. There was a line in the movie where Steve Rogers said he wanted to fight Nazis because he does not like bullies. I've seen interviews of real-life WWII veterans expressing the same sentiment. He also said that men were fighting and dying for freedom and said he could do no less. He was not more concerned with his own life than he was about the people around him. He was humble and powerful and he was striving to do the right thing because it was right even when it was hard or inconvenient. This is the America I'd like us to be. It's also the kind of man Captain America is in the Comics. By that way, I also thought the movie was great.
