Anthony Horvath has posted a very interesting article. He summarizes key information about the Bible that many people don't know which leads them to misunderstand what the Bible says.

  1. Yeah, not that helpful as I was aware of all this already and have read the bible cover to cover with all this in mind.

I will say, in regards to the section on "Prescription versus Description", he's right in theory, but seems to be glossing over the fact that some of those less than flattering things were in fact prescribed by God, not merely a description of bad Hebrew behavior.

  2. I don't think he glossed over that at all. He just didn't detail the reasons why such "less than flattering things" were commanded by God. That was different and outside the scope of the discussion. He was referring to the crappy objections based on things like Psalm 137 (ala Dan Barker) and the Muslim favorite Luke 19:27. As for the examples you are talking about, I'd like you to explain why the answers given about those are inadequate, considering that you have said you are familiar with every answer apologetics gives and have found them wanting.

  3. Marcus all but said "I don't think he glossed over that at all. He just glossed over the reasons why such "less than flattering things" were commanded by God."

  4. Ryan, either put up or shut up. Give an example and why you think there is no excuse. Chicken.

  7. Deut 20 comes to mind, but that's assuming you believe Moses was actually speaking for a God.
