Mia Love: The GOP's Next Rising Black Political Star

God continually surprises me by continuing to show that there are people who exist and live their lives that I had no idea existed! I had never had the idea that there could be a black woman, having Haitian parents, in Utah, a Mormon, and running for Congress as a Republican!!!! I almost fell out my chair.  I never knew such a human being existed!!! I was wrong. Won't be the last time.  This article is the first I have ever heard of Mia Love. Read the article at the link below:

Mia Love: The GOP's Next Rising Black Political Star

  1. There are about 6.1 million Mormons in the US, 74% of them vote republican, and 5% of all Mormons are black, so there are a little less than a quarter million black, republican Mormons. It's probably safe to assume half of them are women, maybe not, but in any case, I'm not sure why you needed god to make you aware such people existed.

  2. Whenever you find out any true information - it was God that allowed you to find out about it - including the statistical break down you provided. Thanks for allowing God to use you by the way. There are not a lot of Black Mormons, let alone Black Americans from Haiti. You have proven my point. You don't meet a lot of Black Americans that are both Mormons and Republicans. It's rare. Also given that Black people could not be fully active Mormons until the 1960's is even more amazing.

    Nuh-uh

This made me think of you.

  4. Nuh uh

    Articulate aren't we?

Psalm 14:1 reminds me of you.

  5. Well, you know I actually am, but your assertion only warranted a "nuh uh"

But I thought you said atheists could do good? Who's right, you are the psalmist?

  6. I agree with the Psalmist. The Bible doesn't say anywhere that no sinner doesn't do good thing things sometimes. Psalm 14 is referring to pleasing God and doing right all the time and never failing! No one does that. We are all like broken clocks. Even a broken clock is right two times a day, but that doesn't mean you don't fix it. If you want to be fixed the only answer is Jesus. I don't find you particularly articulate nor having really good reading comprehension.

Maybe, but that's not what I asked, is it? I said "I thought you said atheists could do good? Who's right, you are the psalmist?"

The psalmist says "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God."

Let's repeat that so we know who we're talking about, "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.". Those who say there is no god, i.e. atheists.

Continuing... "They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good..

There is none that does good.

    You were saying?

  8. The Bible doesn't say anywhere that no sinner doesn't do good thing things sometimes.

In retrospect, I just noticed your double (triple) negative here. Do you mean to say that the bible doesn't say that no sinner doesn't do good things some times?

  9. Ryan, the Bible is correct. And you continue to show what the Bible means by fools! No one is perfect we are all have sinned and done abominable works. The Bible is not just talking about Atheists but everyone. The difference is you have chosen to continue living in your foolishness and I have surrendered to God. I'm not saying that you are a fool and I'm not. I'm saying that you still want to be a fool.

  10. There you go talking about something other than the verse in question again.

  11. The foolish and ignorant rhetoric from you continues. I discussed nothing but the verse you butchered in the context of the whole chapter. The Psalmist is not saying what you said. Read the whole chapter again.

  13. Let me explain where you go off the rails. No where does the Bible say:

There is none that ever does good.

Why do you think it says that? Also you seem to think that good deeds give you some credit. Why should it? What about all the evil you do?

  14. there is none that doeth good

Since you don't know Anglo Saxon Grammar, I'll still give you the benefit of the doubt and let you explain why the above should be read as just talking about a finite instance and is not totally conclusive.

  15. What is "good"? Submitting to God. No one does this...on his/her own. See Romans 8:5-8. This is what Psalm 14 is referring to.

  16. Jesus does not agree with your understanding of Psalm 14 and if it is impossible for a sinner to do good things.

9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. - Psalm 7:9-12

  17. Jesus does not agree with your understanding of Psalm 14...

I never claimed the Bible was consistent.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hell, never claimed Jesus was consistent.

    ReplyDelete
  19. You don't have to. You have no reason to conclude that that the Bible or Jesus are inconsistent. You are wrong. Move on.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I know what you think it takes to make something "consistent". I suppose just have a tighter standard.

  21. I know what you think it takes to make something "consistent". I suppose just have a tighter standard.

Your "standard" is not tighter than God's. You think that it's consistent to assume that the Bible contradicts itself when you have no reason other than your own imagination to conclude such silly argumentation.

    ReplyDelete
  22. You think that it's consistent to assume that the Bible contradicts itself...

    No.

    ReplyDelete
  23. So...what do you mean by "No"? Do you mean: "No, the Bible is consistent." or do you mean: "No, I don't assume the Bible is inconsistent."? Which is it? I ask because you haven't managed to demonstrate that the Bible is inconsistent. You really must learn to communicate more clearly.

    ReplyDelete
  24. So...what do you mean...

Should be obvious from the comment of yours that I included in bold above my comment.

But I do not assume the bible is inconsistent.

    ReplyDelete
  25. But I do not assume the bible is inconsistent

Sure you do. You keep asserting it without proof. Just how blind are you?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Saying A says X and B says Y and X and Y contradict each other is not an unsubstantiated assertion if X and Y are direct quotes.   You seem to misunderstand the difference between a statement of fact and an assertion (like you misunderstand what “prove” means).   It would then be your job to show some reason why X and Y do not contradict each other, which I’ve not seen you do without either 1) torturing the language and/or 2) making unwarranted assumptions about things that are not actually in the text.

    ReplyDelete
  27. You claim that there are contradictions in the Bible. Yes or no? If you do, then demonstrate that there are contradictions instead of just stating that there are without evidence of your imagined contradictions...if you can. You are making a claim...one that should be easier to demonstrate than that there are no contradictions. All you have to point to at least one. All you do is distort and misrepresents and make silly assumptions. Quit confusing yourself.

  28. We've been over this before and I have no desire to watch you go through pointless contotrions to defend the indefensible. You can either look through your archives or look at any of the many compilations online.

    ReplyDelete
  29. You failed each and every time to come up with a contradiction in the Bible. Spectacularly.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Just for fun (not that witnessing you debase yourself is fun...)

How about James 1:13 vs. Genesis 22:1

Obviously the authors are talking about different gods, but I'd "love" to hear your desecration of language and common sense.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Obviously the authors are discussing two kinds of "tempt"(s). I'd say nice try, but then I'd be lying. Full response at http://mmcelhaney.blogspot.com/2012/05/come-and-get-it-temptation-in-bible.html
