Richard Dawkins interviewing a Muslim guy - YouTube
I found this clip on YouTube where Dr Richard Dawkins interviewed a Jewish man who converted to Islam. It is striking to hear Dawkins seem almost rational. Take a look.
Your biases are always on display. Funny how when you say somthing stupid you think you are expressing you opinion and when Iwrite something you disagree with it is a bias. Was Dr Dawkins rational when he stated that the purposeof life is to just pass on your genes? Was he rational in all the excuses he offered to avoid debating William Lane Craig? Obviously he would rather lose to John Lennox. But why would John Lennox have all the fun?
Funny how when you say somthing [sic] stupid you think you are expressing you opinion and when Iwrite [sic] something you disagree with it is a bias.
Um, but you didn't write something I disagree with. In any case, yes, my bias like yours are always on display.
Was Dr Dawkins rational when he stated that the purposeof [sic] life is to just pass on your genes?
Yes, depending on the perspective you are coming from. Certainly I would say my daughter is the meaning of my life, and that is just another way of saying what Dawkins did.
Was he rational in all the excuses he offered to avoid debating William Lane Craig?
100%, absolutely. Never argue with a carnival barker, you may be right, your argument flawless, but you won't win...

So if a person has no offspring they have no purpose in life?
100%, absolutely. Never argue with a carnival barker, you may be right, your argument flawless, but you won't win...
He would not win. But besides that he had every right to chicken out, the problem is his excuses were not rational
The statement was not about "genetic" purpose and when you said that your daughter was your purpose in life you were not referring TO "genetic purpose"
I understand you have a learning disability, but sometimes, people speak in nuanced ways. Since you are incapable of discerning such, just try to remember that it does happen from time to time and employ the charity principle.
So....Dawkins was not irrational in his statement about life's purpose - according to you - he was only speaking in a nuanced way. Gotcha. Makes purpose sense if you equate "nuance" with "cognitive disorder". In your case, that would make a lot of sense.
Hint; he always "almost rational", it's just your biases on display.

ReplyDeleteNo genetic purpose... Remember, it depends on the perspective.

ReplyDeleteMaybe not the way you (wanted) to have heard the statement, but it was.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is Dawkins was not only referring to "genetic Purpose"

ReplyDeleteAlso in terms of "charity principle", please learn it
