George Takei Petitions Against Hollywood's Alleged 'Whitewashing' of 'AKIRA' - ComicsAlliance | Comic book culture, news, humor, commentary, and reviews

Remember the fiasco where they tried to make a live-action movie of Avatar: the Last Air Bender casted with almost all white actors as the leads when they should have clearly been Asian? Yeah, I've been trying to forget it too. Turns out that Hollywood execs have not really learned much in that that they are trying to do the same thing with Akira. I sure hope that they listen to George Takei and those who are pointing out what a horrible idea that is.

    Back in the late 1980s, I must have watched Akira in Japanese 10 times before an English version came out.
    Oh, and for the English voice over people, the character's name is not "Tetsuoooouuuuuuuhhhhhhhh."
