I really enjoy John Lennox's work. His lectures and knowledge has always impressed me. It's interesting to hear him respond to Stephen Hawkings latest arguments. I'm really glad to hear that Dr. Lennox will be responding with an upcoming book. Thanks again to Brian Auten for posting this. Follow the link below to to his blog to listen to it.
God, the Universe & Stephen Hawking by John Lennox - Apologetics 315
So, did you ever read The Grand Design?
ReplyDeleteNo, Ryan. I have not bought the book yet. Feel free to send me a copy. What does that have to do with this post? Did you listen to the interview? Did he misrepresent Hawkings? And when are you going to answer the question about what basis gives you the right to morally judge anyone else?
ReplyDeleteI didn't listen to the interview. Just seems odd to me that you would "enjoy" a critique on a book you haven't read. How would you even know enough to "enjoy" it?
ReplyDeleteSure, I'm judging you, but it's not a "moral judgement", by the way.
PS: I'll send you Sagan's Daemon Haunted World if you like.

Do you really think Lennox wrote only one book? Has he made only one critique of only one book?
Let me help you: No. I was referring to the entirety of his work by that sentence. In context it seems very clear to me. You have judged wrongly. Neither did I claim you were making a moral argument.
Maybe you should ask God what else you are wrong about.
OK, fine. Just seems odd to me that you would find a critique on a book you haven't read "interesting". How would you even know enough to know it's "interesting"?
ReplyDeleteYou still don't understand. One more time: I think the lecture is interesting because John Lennox is so brilliant. You will gain much from reading it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, sure, but how on earth would you know if he's making any sense since you've not read the book?
ReplyDeleteSeriously, it's 208 pages and you pretend to be a "scientist" so it should be a no brainer for you to read it.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't explain how Lennox is wrong in the things he said? I will get to read Hawking's new book when I have the time to read it. You should listen to Lennox' lecture, you will learn something.
ReplyDeleteYou should listen to Lennox' lecture, you will learn something.
ReplyDeleteYes, I actually would learn something having read Hawkins book. You however have merely sought out a friendly source to reinforce your beliefs/prejudices...
Actually I look at it as learning how the book affected a mathematician I respect. All of the post I have done regarding this book were posting the opinions of others. You don't like? Then explain why they are wrong. Make up your own mind.
ReplyDeleteRyan, have you watched the Flew clip yet? When a former notorious atheist such as he, binned the belief he held for decades don't you think it's worth listening to his reasons why?
