John Dramani Mahama, former President of Ghana, is a prominent figure in the country's political landscape. Upon returning to Ghana, Mahama worked as an Information, Culture, and Research Officer at the Embassy of Japan in Accra from 1991 to 1995. His entry into active politics came in 1996 when he was elected to Parliament to represent the Bole/Bamboi constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He was re-elected in 2000 and 2004.

During his time in Parliament, Mahama held several key positions, including Minister for Communications from 1998 to 2001. His background in communication studies and his experience in government made him a valuable asset to the NDC, and in 2008, he was chosen as the running mate for Professor John Evans Atta Mills, the party's presidential candidate.

The Road to the Presidency

Following the NDC's victory in the 2008 elections, John Mahama was sworn in as Vice President of Ghana on January 7, 2009. His tenure as Vice President was characterized by a focus on economic development, social programs, and diplomatic engagements.

Tragedy struck Ghana on July 24, 2012, when President Atta Mills passed away unexpectedly. In accordance with the constitution, Vice President Mahama was immediately sworn in as the President of Ghana. He completed the remaining term of President Mills and subsequently ran for president in the 2012 general elections, which he won. He served a full four-year term as President from 2013 to 2017.

Regarding reparations, it is crucial to clarify that the current administration in Ghana, led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has been actively engaged in international discourse about reparations for the transatlantic slave trade. This effort, supported by the African Union, focuses on seeking compensation for the historical injustices inflicted upon African peoples. There is no substantial evidence suggesting that John Mahama, as former President or in his current capacity, is actively advocating for Ghana to receive reparations specifically from the Asante Empire's historical role in the slave trade. The focus of the broader reparations movement remains on holding those nations and institutions that historically benefited from the slave trade accountable.

Answering Muslims: Somalia Sees Alarming Increase in Rapes

With things like this going on, I find it impossible to argue with the a straight face that the human race is advancing morally.
The Shabab militant group, which presents itself as a morally righteous rebel force and the defender of pure Islam, is seizing women and girls as spoils of war, gang-raping and abusing them as part of its reign of terror in southern Somalia, according to victims, aid workers and United Nations officials. Short of cash and losing ground, the militants are also forcing families to hand over girls for arranged marriages that often last no more than a few weeks and are essentially sexual slavery, a cheap way to bolster their ranks’ flagging morale.

Answering Muslims: Debunking the Palestine Lie

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has launched an international campaign to achieve recognition by the United Nations for an independent Palestinian state. Abbas and his international supporters claim that only Israel (with the United States) stands in the way of this act of historical justice, which would finally bring about peace in the Middle East.

This video debunks the Palestinians' claim and shows that Abbas has been lying about the origins and history of the conflict. Palestinian leaders have rejected partition plans that would have given them much more land for their independent state than the Jews were offered for theirs. Rather than being the innocent victims of a "dispossession" at the hands of the Israelis, the Palestinians rejected reasonable compromises and instead pursued their aim of getting rid of the only Jewish state in the world.

The Dunamis Word: The UN Declares "Homosexual Rights" A Human Right

Before I saw this post from Elder Burnett, I did not know that the United Nations has taken such steps:


This week, in an action specifically linked to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights 60th anniversary, France and The Netherlands initiated a proposal aimed at changing the laws of at least 77 countries that outlaw homosexuality, 7 of which require the death penalty as the ultimate punishment for the act. Reuters Reported the following:
"The European Union-backed document, noting that the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was marked this month, said those rights applied equally to all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
It urged states "to take all the necessary measures, in particular legislative or administrative, to ensure that sexual orientation or gender identity may under no circumstances be the basis for criminal penalties, in particular executions, arrests or detention."
Opposition on the council noted the facts that regulation of these issues were associated with member states rights and would have some potentially devastating effects on all human rights process and understanding. See if this doesn't sound familiar:
"But the opposing document said the statement "delves into matters which fall essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of states" and could lead to "the social normalization, and possibly the legitimization, of many deplorable acts including pedophilia."..."We note with concern the attempts to create 'new rights' or 'new standards,' by misinterpreting the Universal Declaration and international treaties to include such notions that were never articulated nor agreed by the general membership," it added. This, it said, could "seriously jeopardize the entire international human rights framework."

The things that bothers me even more is that the leadership of my denomination, The Church of God in Christ, has endorsed the United Nation's Declaration Of Human Rights. Now that it's clear what it is, I cannot see how we can support it yet claim we believe the Bible. I have to say that I agree with Elder Burnett's conclusion:


Question: Now that it is CLEAR without argument or speculation, or obfuscation that the UDHR creates, endorses and defends what are considered to be homosexual rights, including the right to pursue marriage and relationships, will the leadership of the greatest church in the world, the holiness, Pentecostal fire, Church Of God in Christ Inc. of Memphis, TN. withdraw our endorsement of the document?


The question should be rhetorical and the answer should be that we should withdraw the endorsement. Prayer changes everything. We need to pray that we all obey God and seek to please Him and not what other people think.
