Wondercon 2011 - Radio Controlled R2D2 at Wondercon

One of the coolest booths I saw at the first day of Wondercon 2011 was the Droid Builders club booth. It's a support mechanism where Star Wars Fans can band together to make their own droids like the remote controlled R2D2 unit on the floor. It was about the same height as the movie version and moved and made sounds from the movie. It was a pretty awesome display of engineering. Someone uploaded a short video of it operating.

My daughter was transfixed by it. She was asking the man all kinds of questions and her mind was ablazed with curiosity. It was worth going just for that.

Inspiring Words From Dan Slott

Dan Slott has tweeted two statements that say a whole lot in a few words..

Sometimes this is all I need for a good, swift kick-in-the-ass to get me going: http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g18/DanSlott/sorry.jpg :P

Never underestimate the power of someone telling you what you CAN'T do. "I'll show them!" can be one of life's BEST motivators! :)

Why are these words of wisdom? Because Dan Slott is now one of hottest writers of Comics today! He is so good that the was picked to write the storyline for the upcoming Spider-Man video game called Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. He never gave up and it paid off....okay and talent certainly didn't hurt!!!
