February, 2026 is almost half over and a near flood of treatments and cures for cancers. Are these lies? Do they work? I hope they are real. But what sucks is that the United States recently left World Health Organization. Coincidence? Maybe? I do not know. Assuming they are real cure, will we all have access to them?

Wow, Christopher Hitchens was just interviewed by Anderson Cooper on CNN. Personally, I like the man from what I've seen of him. I just don't agree with him about God. I think it's stupid to tell people that Hitchens deserves this sickness because of his atheism. That is stupid. Cancer is indiscriminate. Christians get cancer too. God heals some people of cancer, bottom line. God heals and blesses people who are not Christians all the time. It depends on God's will not all on us. I hope God heals him. I'm glad Hitchens is taking the "Why-not-me?" attitude. It's the best attitude to take when things don't go as you expect. No one sees these kinds of things coming.
Here is another post in my series answering Evid3nc3's Youtube videos discussing why he walked away from Christianity. It's been a while so in case you didn't see the other posts or Evid3nc3's series let me just say that this is a great series of videos describing the process that one man underwent in leaving Christianity. In the following video, he discusses why prayer led him away from God.
I am very surprised that I have read that many apostates and atheists find these arguments good. The main problem with his arguments it makes me wonder if he understood what the Assemblies of God teach about prayer. Like him I grew up thinking that prayer was as he initially defined it. But like him I was a child at the time. Also like him, I also came to the conclusion that we much pray according to God's will. But there is several differences between what the Assemblies of God teaches and what you he has has presented.
1. God's will isn't subjective. If you want to know God's plan for your life and your purpose, you can know it. One way to know is to see if what you think God's will is lines up with the Bible. If it does not then you know it's you who is wrong.
2. Why would God grant the selfish prayers we pray? If the point of prayer is for us to commune with God and to draw closer to God, then why would God give us superpowers or make us a robot or and flight of fancy we might imagine? How would that help us? It wouldn't. Thankfully he seemed to have realized that.
3. God does not want us to just pray for things that might happen anyway. I learned that God does supply our needs. Sometimes not the way we expect but what is best.
4. I also notice that people just amaze me when they talk about prayer. Can this guy really say all the time in Church he never experienced nor ever seen God move miraculously and intervene in his life or anyone he knows? Has he never seen the peace of God manifested in the life of one whom has not natural reason to be peace of mind? I've seen God bless and help me and those I know in ways that defy description or understanding. Just for starters. One of my first cousins was murdered 5 years ago and my aunt blesses and praises God (as we all do) for keeping her and comforting her. I know people God healed of cancer after medical science gave up on them. I myself was healed of juvenile arthritis. Our church mother was hit by a hummer 3 years ago and was told she would never fully recover, but she has. I could go on and on. All of these things build a relationship with God founded on the fact that God shows us that no matter what happens we can trust God.
5. That's the number one thing I hear missing from the stories ex-Christians tell: a relationship. Where God talks and they listen.
I've spent some time thinking about apostasy. The Bible talks about becoming a Christian from the point of view of a complete change. The Bible uses the same language as in a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. Once a caterpillar becomes a butterfly the animal can never turn back into a caterpillar. Same thing is true of a born-again Christian.
Romans 12:2 says
2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
The word translated "transformed" is "Metamorphoo" and we get the word "metamorphosis" from it. You can't undo this once God starts this process. This is also how we know that the will of God is.
One last thing: How do we know that the purpose is for prayer and living this Christian life is? the Bible tells us.
28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. - Romans 8:28-29
I recently found out that Jeff Musall of the Portland Atheist Examiner linked to my article about Dr. James White's response to the announcement of Christopher Hitchens' illness. You can read my article and get a link to White's response here. The reason I bring this up again is because I have to take issue with what much of what Musall said. Musall wrote:
What the myriad comments like these are saying with we will "pray for you" is a slap in the face to the nonbeliever more pointed than any simple insult. It would be better if they took the sly smile off their faces and just went ahead and laughed at him.
Like the "hate the sin, not the sinner" chant fundamentalists use against homosexuality, the cloak of love doesn't quite cover the body of hate.
But we are in the open with it, we don't hide behind false feelings. We didn't like them, and were glad to see them go. I wish the religious could be so honest about atheists.
Here's hoping Christopher Hitchens comes through this just fine, and emerges on the other side not in any way thankful to those who offered their prayers.
It's sad that Musall would think that Christians are hiding their true feelings. Why would I be happy for Christopher Hitchens to die painfully and end up in hell? Can he really think that Christians are that mean and petty? I guess so. By definition if we believe the Bible about God's attitude about such things we can't take that attitude.
Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have nopleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel? - Ezekiel 33:11
9The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
It's not Christians who pray for the physical and spiritual recovery of Christopher Hitchens who are being hateful. Hate fills those who are described by:
Many smiled with glee at the passings of Oral Roberts, Jerry Falwell, and D. James Kennedy. And some will party when James Dobson slides into his imagined eternity.
A video of Hitchen was also posted with Musall's post. Let's look ast it juxtaposed with the attitude Christians like Dr. White have.
"Gotcha!" isn't the appropriate response. Prayer is. No one is better or worse. We are all sinnersand withoout Jesus Christ we have nothing.
I was really looking forward to the debate between James White and Christopher Hitchens on August 30, 201. Today, Hitchens announce that he is undergoing chemotherapy to fight a deadly cancer he is suffering from. How does James White respond?
I just learned that Christopher Hitchens has announced he is undergoing chemotherapy for esophogeal cancer. Here is his announcement. I fully expect this to lead to the cancellation of our August 30th debate, though I do not yet have that official word.
I have listened to many, many hours of Christopher Hitchens speaking. I've read his attacks upon my faith, listened to him blaspheme in public, etc. And yet I cannot help but like the man personally, who has such a quick sense of humor and a streak of honesty that I know comes straight from common grace. He has surprised me many times, showing an insight into the errors of his evidentialist Christian opponents that many others lack. Let's pray for Mr. Hitchens that God will use this providence to bring to his mind the many, many times he has heard the truth. His detestation of the Christian faith runs very deep, but as we all know, God is glorified when God-haters are turned into God-lovers. Should God mercifully extend his life, I hope we will get a chance to meet. May God be pleased to reveal to him the Lord of Glory, and turn his heart from rebellion to realize that the one thing he rails against most, that of submission to one's Creator, is the greatest freedom the creature can know.
What???? Could this be gentleness? Humility? Respect??!! Loving? Yup. It is. I'm confused by all the people who condemn Dr. White. I mean this is how I see he always acts. It's the way we should all act even when a person disagrees with us. I will be joining Dr. White in prayer for Mr. Hitchens. It is the right thing to do and I hope God will be giving him mercy.
