There was an awesome interview on Iron Sharpens Iron in which author Stephanie O. Hubach wrote called Same Lake, Different Boat: Coming Alongside People Touched By Disability (see http://www.prpbooks.com/inventory.html?target=indiv_title&id=1011). She explains how we can interact with families who have special-needs children from a Biblical perspectives. She should know. She has a child with autism. This is a great interview. Many people who haven't lived through that ask "How can a good God allow children to be born handicapped or sick? They ask what do you tell a person or family who are facing such suffering and problems? This interview begins to answer such questions.

Dr. Claude Mariottini - Professor of Old Testament: Did Moses Have a Cleft Lip?
This is a great post from Dr. Claude Mariottini. I never considered that Moses could have had a medical condition. I also disagree with the rabbinical idea that God does not call people to service who have disabilities. I know that God does use people who are disabled. One of the Pastors in my denomination is blind and he is constantly used by God. He is just one of the examples I know of. Mariottini does a great job showing how Moses' answer when God called him from the burning bush. has been interpreted and re-interpreted.
