Answering Muslims: Teenage Apostate Susan Ithungu Tortured and Starved by Her Muslim Father

David Wood posted an article about a young lady, Susan Ithungu, who lives in Uganda that is still recovering from injuries she received from being tortured and starved. If that wasn't bad enough, her own father did this to her. Why? She left Islam and converted to Christianity. She is only 14 years old

In March 2010 an evangelist from Bwera Full Gospel Church spoke at Susan’s school, and she decided to trust Christ for her salvation.

“I heard the message of Christ’s great love of him dying for us to get everlasting peace, and there and then I decided to believe in Christ,” she said from her hospital bed. “After a month, news reached my father that I had converted to Christianity, and that was the beginning of my troubles with him. Our father warned us not to attend church or listen to the gospel message. He even threatened us with a sharp knife that he was ready to kill us in broad daylight in case we converted to Christianity.”

There have been many discussions on this blog about what a true Christian is and Susan is a living example In the face of profound persecution, she holds on to the faith that God gives her. She doesn't run away. She doesn't recant. She does not "put her hand to the plow and look back." She does not console her self of her inability to know Jesus by saying no one does. She does know Jesus. It's the only way to explain how she is able to endure as she has. We need to pray for people like Susan because she isn't the only one suffering because she refuses to back down from Jesus. There are many people all over the world who don't have it as cushy as we have it in the United States.

Daily Nation: - Africa |African bishops say Anglicans in West strayed from God

This is good news. I heard about this from Dr. Mariottini's blog. I'm not happy that many denominations are deciding to compromise on scripture. I'm glad that Anglican bishops in Africa are voicing concerns. It's about time someone had said something and they are going as far cutting ties to European and American and Canadian congregations that are compromising on homosexuality.
The conference host, the Archbishop of Uganda Henry Luke Orombi, said African leaders would use the six-day meeting to voice the concerns about the "ailing church" to Williams.
"Homosexuality is incompatible with the word of God," Orombi said. "It is good (that) Archbishop Rowan is here. We are going to express to him where we stand. We are going to explain where our pains are."
Orombi also said that disputes over homosexuality had already divided the global Anglican community
Think that Bishop Orombi is over-reeacting? Nope. Here is a quote from Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams:
"We must learn to listen to those we lead and serve to find out what their hopes and needs and confusions are. We must love them and attend to their humanity in all its diversity," he said.
"We cannot assume we always know better and that we always have the right answer to any specific question."

We can love people and attend to their diversities without condoning sin and compromising on scripture.
