I agree with much of what Dr Moreland says in this video. The problem I had was that he made no distinction between "soul" and "spirit". This is a major problem because the Bible makes a distinction so we should make a distinction also. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. - 1 Thessalonians 5:23 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. - Hebrews 4:12

Wow, the arrogance... "Hi! I've been studying Neuroscience for less than a year with non-Neuroscientists and you know what I've discovered? Neuroscientists are confused because I need to believe in souls."
ReplyDeleteBut I love it, I wasted an hour of my life and J.P. Moreland didn't demonstrate the existence of souls, but even so, you then go on to assert the existence of a second undemonstrated and likely unfalsifiable thing. Can you demonstrate the existence of either spirits or souls?
His talk was illustrative though of the limits of philosophy vis-a-vis science.
So in other words, you have no idea what he said because you need not to believe in souls. If you didn't get anything from the video it is due to your own limitations not Moreland's.
