George Takei Petitions Against Hollywood's Alleged 'Whitewashing' of 'AKIRA' - ComicsAlliance | Comic book culture, news, humor, commentary, and reviews

Remember the fiasco where they tried to make a live-action movie of Avatar: the Last Air Bender casted with almost all white actors as the leads when they should have clearly been Asian? Yeah, I've been trying to forget it too. Turns out that Hollywood execs have not really learned much in that that they are trying to do the same thing with Akira. I sure hope that they listen to George Takei and those who are pointing out what a horrible idea that is.

Answering Muslims: The Islamic Objective in Great Britain

I agree with David Wood. Why don't we just let this Muslim explain what he and other like-minded individuals really think.

'Batman: Year One' Animated Movie Gets Its Voice Cast - ComicsAlliance | Comic book culture, news, humor, commentary, and reviews

One of the big stories today was the announcement that the voices of the main characters for the upcoming Batman Year One animated have been cast.

Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston is an inspired choice to play James Gordon, the Gotham City police Lieutenant with whom the young Batman allies to wage a new war on crime. Voicing that novice Dark Knight is Ben McKenzie from Southland and The OC. The cast also includes Eliza Dushku as Catwoman, Katee Sackhoff as Sarah Essen and Alex Rocco as Carmine Falcone.

I've thoroughly enjoyed all of the DCU animated movies and they are great examples of excellent storytelling. What drew my attention to this story is:

Cranston told The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision that he rejected WB's offer to perform in Batman: Year One without even reading the script, simply by virtue of the fact that it was for animation, which he considered an unsophisticated medium. Naturally, Cranston was turned around by Miller & Mazzucchelli and the WB Animation team.

"I wasn't aware of this level of storytelling in animation. I confess that freely," he says. "They didn't give the characters the short shrift. I was stunned."

Cranston's attitude is still prevalent and I had forgotten that. Many people forget that animation is not a genre. IT's a medium. You can truly tell just about any story you want and do it in a convincing and epic way. It is sophisticated and worthy of the same respect as live-action productions.

The Dunamis Word: The "Good Book" The Bible Of Humanism

I appreciate Elder Harvey Burnett posting this article on this publication I hadn't heard about: The "Good Book".

Anthony Graylings book called "The Good Book" is currently being promoted to support the efforts and the agenda of materialism and materialists everywhere. In a book styled after the Bible, which is known as the best selling book in history, the "Good Book" as it is called comes replete with chapter, verse and language similar to the King James Version of the Bible. Simply put, it is a Bible without God and one that is centered on man.

Genesis 1:1 ~ "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."

The Good Book ~ “All things take their origin from earlier kinds: Ancestors of most creatures rose from the sea, some inhabitants of the sea evolved from land-dwelling forefathers.”

The question I have is this: If the Bible is such an obvious failure and not worthy of attention, why would a humanist want to parody it. After reading Elder Burnett's remarks, it seems strange to me - like it is an attempt to fill the vacancy rejecting God leaves in the lives of those who deny God's will. More proof the we really need to pray.

Beggars All: Reformation And Apologetics: Bart Ehrman unknowingly refutes Islamic Polemics

Here is a very important article! If you have heard any Muslims or Atheists recently, then you have probably have heard them use Dr. Bart Ehrman's work to argue against Christianity. I like this article because it shows that many of Ehrman's arguments against Christianity also applies to Islam. And the false conclusions he draws about Christianity would also apply to Christianity. Muslims also seems to forget that Ehrman does agree with some aspect of mainstream Christianity:

Even Bart Ehrman knows that:
Jesus was crucified,
Jesus was buried,
that Paul met with James and others of the 11 disciples/apostles,
and that the gospel of John really does teach the Deity of Christ!

Jesus - the Anime - ReelComix

I realize that some people may be offended by a movie based on Jesus, especially one done animated in Japanese style. I don't have a problem with it, personally. I don't see a film or an animated film as profane or evil any more than live-action "Passion" plays. Such films help ground our understanding by giving us something to see. In the first century, Christians were so close to actual events they understood what Jesus actually went through. Some of them had family and friends who had been crucified. It was a reality for them - not just history. I'd like to see the rest of this film. So I'll post more information about it as soon as I get more information.

Why the “I Just Believe in One Less God than You” Argument Does not Work | Parchment and Pen

In another gem of a tweet from Brian Auten I found the following link to an article by
“I contend we are both atheists, I just believe in one less god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.” —Stephen F Roberts

Funny thing is I've heard this same argument multiple times from atheists who comment on John Lofus' blog Debunking Christianity. I've posted links to the answer for this objection in several posts on this blog from several people. I like this particular treatment also.

Fighting Colonialism At Home Colonialism is the establishment,… | The Angry Black Woman

Fighting Colonialism At Home

Colonialism
is the establishment, maintenance, acquisition and expansion of colonies in one territory by people from another territory. Colonialism is a process whereby sovereignty over the colony is claimed by the metropole and the social structure, government, and economics of the colony are changed by colonists - people from the metropole. Colonialism is a set of unequal relationships: between the metropole and the colony, and between the colonists and the indigenous population.
