Jihad in Islam is very broad in scope. Not just limited to the war. Any activities intended to develop the religion of God and the realization of devotion to Him, has a degree of jihad. Example of dedication to the parents, criticized the ruling dzalim, looking Sciences, dhikr to Allah, and keep ourselves from evil. Thus the understanding of jihad more complex, not as narrow as it is understood some Muslims, to identify the war as the only jihad in Allah's way.
Nevertheless, the war with the jihad in Islam that one do in case of necessity. If there are other options that do not result in blood peptumpahan it better. So do jihad in Allah's way is not to destroy the enemy. But in an attempt to avoid the wrongdoers who will be the enemy of Muslims.
