I find it amazing that there still so much racism in 2012. In the past week it's like a blanket has been pulled back and we can see how ugly some people's hearts truly are.
1. This past weekend I heard about the murder of Trayvon Martin. The young man was only seventeen years-old and he was
murdered for wearing a hoodie killed because he was dressed in a way that made him seem suspicious to George Zimmerman. To make it worse there are people trying to excuse Zimmerman by finding something Trayvon did that lead to him being shot.
2. I also heard about a black man and a black woman killed in Chicago by cop and there does not seem to be any good reason for this.
3. I admit I have not yet seen "Hunger Games" or read the books, but apparently some people who were fans of the series have made shocking and racist remarks against a young black kids that was cast as one of their beloved characters. I guess these people have really bad reading comprehension skill because the characters were described as black in the books. These idiots claim that this revelation has detracted from their enjoyment of the franchise. Here is a picture of one of the young people being insulted for no other reason than the color of her skin.

To make it worse there are people trying to excuse Zimmerman by finding something Trayvon did that lead to him being shot.
ReplyDeleteUsually, if someone gets shot, and it's in self defense, it's because of something they did.
How about you revisit this after the grand jury weighs in and you know more.
Marcus:
ReplyDeleteDid you see that there was a witness?
http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/hannity/2012/03/27/witness-reportedly-saw-trayvon-martin-beating-george-zimmerman-shooting
Yes, I've heard that there was a witness who reports seeing Trayvon beating Zimmerman. But there is also evidence that points to a lot of disturbing things. For example why did Zimmerman use a racial slur? That just doesn't make sense to me. Was Trayvon an angel? I doubt it. Was he walking along and being followed by a dude twice his size? I think so. I also think that if Trayvon was fighting Zimmerman he was the one who was feeling threatened.
ReplyDeleteI also find it amazing that this wasn't the only high profile racial injustice in the news today.
I also think that if Trayvon was fighting Zimmerman he was the one who was feeling threatened.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think this?
Trayvon Martin was also on a cell phone during the incident and he said he felt threatened. Didn't you hear the audios. And listen to a few of the witnesses?
ReplyDeleteOf course I did. Now I did have a chance to listen to the alleged “Trayvon 911 call” before it disappeared off the internet (your youtube linked video is also no longer available). Given the media bias in favor of Trayvon in the case, I don’t think the disappearance of this call indicates a conspiracy, but rather perhaps someone posted some audio from a call unrelated to the case, but I don’t know.
ReplyDeleteWhat I do know is that we (the public) do have Zimmerman’s call to 911 and then a 911 call by a neighbor from inside.
Speaking of media bias, did you listen to the edited “racist version” of Zimmerman’s 911 call from MSNBC or the full, "unracist" version from WFTV?
As for the neighbor’s 911 call, there’s no way, at least for me, to tell who was saying what outside. I think it’s reasonable to conclude from the audio that there was a prolonged struggle and then a shot, which doesn’t really fit the “gunned down” narrative. But again, who knows.
But the bottom line is that there is absolutely not enough information to make any judgments yet in this case, and using the word “murder” is irresponsible.
This is a circus, and 90% of the blame lies with those not involved in the case at all. I have lost a lot of the respect I had for Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. And Spike Lee, what an irresponsible moron!!! That poor elderly couple!

ReplyDeleteHere’s a thoughtful article on the case
1. There were more witnesses than just the two you mentioned.
ReplyDelete2. George Zimmerman should not have even had a gun with him that night.
3. The 911 dispatcher told him to stay away and not follow him. Zimmerman ignored that
4, If a man twice your size came up to you (who is not a cop) and was questioning your right to be walking down a public street, woudn't you feel threatened?
5. I know I have a bias because I see in Trayvon my brothers, cousins, nephews, uncles, fathers,my son, even myself. It could have been anyone of us. And much the same sorts of things have happened to members of my own family. So pardon me for knowing that such things happen frequently. Just this time, the media got a hold of it.
I also want to be clear, that I am not in favor of executing or imprisoning Zimmerman for killing Martin, if it was self-defense. I think that the evidence shows that Zimmerman had exceeded his authority and his actions contributed to Trayvon's death. Zimmerman was partly to blame even if his actions don't meet the legal definition of "murder".
Delete1 - The police report has three witnesses, they are not named.
ReplyDelete2 - I don't know if he was authorized to carry it as part of the watch, but should or not, in Florida, it's perfectly legal.
3 - I'm torn on this. It seems that he may be moving to confirm the address for the dispatcher, but I can't say for certain from the recording.
4 - Zimmer is 5'9" (with no weight listed, but I've seen 170lbs) and Trayvon was 6' (160lbs) so he wasn't twice his size. This is from the police report.
5 -- I totally get this, I do. I respect it. But not when it leads to calls for a lynching. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the New Black Panthers, Spike Lee and, I hate to admit it, even Obama have stepped way over the line on this.
However, when you say "the media got a hold of it", I have to point out how biased the media has been (age 13 photo vs. "mug" shot, audio edited for maximum racial impact, etc...).
Is that what you want?
1 - The police report has three witnesses, they are not named.
ReplyDeleteThe YoungTurks and other outlets have reported that other witnesses were turn away.
2 - I don't know if he was authorized to carry it as part of the watch, but should or not, in Florida, it's perfectly legal.
It was also reported that Zimmerman was not an official member of any Neighborhood watch and was acting alone and unsanctioned.
3 - I'm torn on this. It seems that he may be moving to confirm the address for the dispatcher, but I can't say for certain from the recording.
That's not what I heard. 911 told him not to chase the person he was tailing and to leave him alone. Zimmerman did not do that.
4 - Zimmer is 5'9" (with no weight listed, but I've seen 170lbs) and Trayvon was 6' (160lbs) so he wasn't twice his size. This is from the police report.
And where did you get this police report?
5 -- I totally get this, I do. I respect it. But not when it leads to calls for a lynching. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the New Black Panthers, Spike Lee and, I hate to admit it, even Obama have stepped way over the line on this.
And where did you hear for a lynching being called on Zimmerman? Last I heard all these people are demanding an investigation so that this does not happen again. We are tired of it. Next time it could be my son or nephew or cousin. It shouldn't happen to anyone...ever.
However, when you say "the media got a hold of it", I have to point out how biased the media has been (age 13 photo vs. "mug" shot, audio edited for maximum racial impact, etc...).
And none of that matters when it comes to determining if Trayvon was murdered or not. Same thing is happening to make Trayvon look bad. There is media trying to cash in on both sides. I doubt you have seen these
Witnesses in Trayvon Martin Homicide Speak: “It Was Not Self-Defense”
Trayvon Martin Investigation-By-Media Devolves Into Victim Blaming
Malkin Bias: Twitchy.com Posts Fake Photo of Trayvon Martin Using New #TeamDueProcess – No Joke
Is that what you want?
No. I want justice. I want to know that I or any other black male can walk down the street and not have to worry about being perceived enough of a threat just by mere existence. We are not there yet.
I doubt you really know what it's like. For women to pull their purses closer to themselves and all you did was walk by and wish them no harm - fear all over their face. Once my mom was in a store (not long ago) and the clerk was so busy trying to make sure she didn't steal anything he missed the shoplifting by a white lady. It's not right.
And none of that matters when it comes to determining if Trayvon was murdered or not
ReplyDeleteIt does if it comes to a jury trial.
If this goes to a jury what is most likely to happen is that Trayvon will be attacked and depicted as a thug and a hoodlum who deserved what happened to him rather than a defensed based on look how "poor" George Zimmerman has been vilified and unfairly depicted in the media. (They'll use that one on appeal if there is one.) Don't forget that this is America.
ReplyDeleteTo paraphrase Churchill (or Twain?), America, it's the worst country, except for all the others.
DeleteFinally a 100% indisputable statement.
