There Is Still Slavery Today

  • The post shares a UN Watch graphic about Lydia Mugambe, a Ugandan UN judge and former Columbia University human rights fellow, convicted in March 2025 under the UK's Modern Slavery Act for exploiting a nanny by withholding wages, passport, and enforcing excessive hours while studying at Oxford.
  • Mugambe was sentenced to two years in prison in May 2025, as reported by BBC and Reuters, highlighting the irony of a human rights expert's involvement in forced labor, which drew global media attention to accountability in international bodies.
  • What I want to know is: WHY DOES THE WORLD ALLOW THIS?!
