Privatizing education is just as bad as privatizing Health Care. It says that if you can't afford quality health care or quality education then you don't deserve it. Education is one of those things that everyone should have equal access to and if you don't make the best of it, then that is on you. But not giving everyone a level playing field in which to start is criminal. It's setting them up for failure. It's true that it's not just about race, it's about keeping the poor - black and white - economically disadvantaged and politically weak. God don't like it. Just read the Book of Amos if you don't know what God thinks about exploiting the poor and down-trodden. Also don't forget that God won't let our society get away with it. This article points out the sheer stupidness of punishing women from seeking better education for their children. Read the article at the following link:

FacePalm of the Day #80 - Wrong, root and branch; wrong at every cell and molecule; wrong to the core : Pharyngula
John Loftus posted a link to an article written by PZ Meyers about Harold Camping. I think it's worth looking at his post. There are things we can learn about the mind of the unregenerate sinner's mind. The article proves that although the Bible-believing Christian must reject Camping's teaching - agreeing with atheists on that point - the disagreement with Camping comes form a whole different set of reasons. PZ Meyers is just as wrong and deluded as Camping is deceived. I've re-posted Meyer's article with my comments in red.
The world didn't end last Saturday (obviously), but Harold Camping and his predictions are just a smokescreen, and everyone is missing the heart of the problem.
You mean that Camping being wrong and unrepentant doesn't mean the Bible is wrong? .I know...but one could hope.
Camping has now spoken. He now claims that Jesus did arrive 'spiritually' on the 21st, and that in his generous mercy, God has decided to spare us the 153 days of the tribulation, but that the world will still be ending on 21 October. This is no surprise. This is exactly what these crackpot prophets do: they're never right, but they are great at rationalizing. You mean that Camping being wrong and unrepentant doesn't mean the Bible is wrong? .I know...but one could hope.
And just where in the Bible did Camping get all of that? The Bible says no such thing.
His followers are busy readjusting. Here's a radio interview with one bible-thumper; the guy who threw away his life savings on subway signs was left wandering in Times Square, confused and disappointed. None of them has changed their beliefs about the biblical apocalypse, they're just fudging the dates.
The Family Radio website has been scrubbed clean of mentions of Judgment Day.
And what do I see from most people? A stern finger-wagging with biblical authority reaffirmed.
Biblical authority is affirmed because it is promised that false prophets will be shown for the frauds that they are. And notice how Camping does exactly opposite what the Bible says we should do.
I was sent that image by someone who clearly thought it was a joke, but I am not laughing. I'm angry, instead. I don't fucking care what fucking Jesus fucking said. The problem is NOT that some kook in California plucked numbers out of the Bible and conjured up a numerological justification for a date: the idiocy runs much deeper than that.
First, why the profanity? Can't we make valid points without being vulgar? In Meyer's case here it is important to point out that we should care what Jesus said because when we find some one saying opposite and mutually exclusive claims - we know we have a false prophet.
- The entire myth of dispensationalism — that time is divided into distinct ages with discrete beginnings and ends, characterized by distinct bodies of knowledge granted us by divine will — is nonsense. These fairy tales of a rapture and tribulation and world destruction are entirely the invention of crank theologians elaborating on the ravings of the 19th century Irish priest, John Nelson Darby. It's no more sourced or historical or rational than the goddamn Book of Mormon.
- Christian eschatology is a vile and hateful message about their imaginary tyrant god who, once again, is scheduled to have a temper tantrum in which he kills almost everyone, snatches up their souls, and makes them suffer for eternity for being human. A few will be spared; their reward is an eternity of servility, but at least they get to know they're better than everyone else. And that's the real lesson here: it's all about elitism and the most extreme threats imaginable to anyone who does not support these self-appointed masters of dogma. Again, there's no reason to believe any of it, other than that people have absorbed the propaganda for the whole of their lifetime.
I sure would like to know who Meyer talks to. Not all Christians would agree with the eschatology he presents here. Easy to grab a straw man, knock it down (without proving it wrong), and then lump all Christians in it. NO ONE IS GOING TO HEAVEN BECAUSE THEY ARE BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE. No one who believes the Bible thinks that. Even Camping is not that dumb and he's got a lot of theological problems.
- The Christian bible is supposed to be the ultimate source of authority, and to many of the more extreme, the only source of authority. It's got 'bible codes' in it; it's a rich vein of numerological bullshit to be mined; it's vagued, confused, ambiguous, and contradictory, a refuse heap of tribal gobbledygook hallowed by nothing other than long ages of accumulation. Our minds try desperately to find pattern and meaning in what we observe around us, and the best source to trigger all kinds of lunatic pattern generating theories is a nearly totally incoherent mass of text with huge cultural signposts pointing at it and screaming that it is important.
It's like being told that a tangled, confusing clump of jungle, all bewildering with shadow and random shapes slashing across it, is the home of a fierce tiger that will kill you if you get close. Stare hard at it, and you can convince yourself that there is something dangerous lurking there, even if it contains no animal larger than a rabbit.
"Magic" has nothing to do with it. Again, pointing to Camping is really bad example of what Christians believe and think. If you read the Bible like he does no wonder you think that the Bible is useless. All you have to do is read it. Look at it in the same way you read anything from a historical, cultural, and plain context and you cannot get out of it what Meyer or Camping get out of the Bible. Meyer revealed he doesn't care What Jesus said,. Then how do you know Camping is wrong or anyone for that matter is wrong? Without a standard, you can't know. Harold Camping makes an awful standard.
It's the very same rot, the poison of religion that twists minds away from reality and fastens them on hellish bogeymen. They're demented fuckwits, every one, and the big lie rests right on the fundamental beliefs of supernaturalism and deities, not on the ephemera of one crank's bizarre interpretations.
And to the next person who quotes Matthew 24:36 at me: you're part of the problem, too.
Did Camping lie about what the Bible says? Yup. It's stupid and unscientific to throw the Bible under the proverbial bus based on his lie. Meyer already had the conclusion that the Bible was a lie before May 21 2011 and he is using Camping to validate that belief. The logical problem is that according to the Bible Camping is liar n and stands condemned. Meyer is standing with him also condemned. But if we repent of our sin and put our trust in Jesus Christ we will not be condemned with Camping.

THE INTERSECTION | MADNESS & REALITY: The Problem With Beyonce's "Run The World (Girls)"
I found this particular article extremely interesting! I like Beyonce! I even like the video (except the part when she give the camera "The Finger") but this article points out that this music video does not represent reality. Women all over the world are being persecuted and are suffering. This is true, beyond question. We can't forget that. This is an important point:
Also:
At the time Beyonce was singing that "girls run the world," 48 women were being raped per hour in the Congo, and their calls for justice were being ignored. Black women are dying at an alarming rate due to maternal death. If you think this is going on in some poor country in Africa or Latin America alone, you would be sorely mistaken. That's happening on American soil at this very moment
They [the woman in the video] dance to appease the male gaze. If girls run the world, why are you dancing for the men, and not the other way around? Mind, I don't want male subservience either. But no one thought about an alternate universe, where powerful women are at the head of boardrooms? No one thought to dress her up as the POTUS with an all-female staff; all-female military commanders?
I have to admit some people look at this video and just say "It's just art. Don't get deep with it?" I say say, Why not think? Of course it's entertainment, but we can't forget to be sober minded and don't get it confused with reailty.

Ooops..it was a "spiritual" meaning!
Mike Felker has pointed out an article in which Harold Camping explained why his May 21, 2011 date for the rapture is wrong. So what about all the people's lives rocked and destroyed because they believed Camping's hogwash?
Unbelievable!I loved Mike's summation of Camping's explanation.
I do hold Camping responsible, but those people ignored the Bible and listened to Camping instead are not free of accountability. IT would help if Camping would really admit that he was wrong, repent, and ask for forgiveness. Not yet, but God is still in the business of Miracles.
THE APOLOGETIC FRONT: Silly me...it was a "spiritual" meaning!
Monday, rather than give his normal daily broadcast, Camping took questions as a part of his show, "Open Forum," which transmits his biblical interpretations via the group's radio stations, TV channels, satellite broadcasts and website.Camping's hands shook slightly as he pinned his microphone to his lapel, and as he clutched a worn Bible he spoke in a quivery monotone about some listeners' earthly concerns after giving away possessions in expectation of the Rapture.Family Radio would never tell anyone what they should do with their belongings, and those who had fewer would cope, Camping said."We're not in the business of financial advice," he said. "We're in the business of telling people there's someone who you can maybe talk to, maybe pray to, and that's God."But he also said that he wouldn't give away all his possessions ahead of Oct 21."I still have to live in a house, I still have to drive a car," he said. "What would be the value of that? If it is Judgment Day why would I give it away?"
Unbelievable!I loved Mike's summation of Camping's explanation.
When your doomsday end-of-the-world prediction doesn't come to pass; give it a "spiritual" meaning instead.

FacePalm of the Day #79 - Pamela Geller, WND: An illegitimate child, an illegitimate president - Atlas Shrugs
Pamela Geller wrote this really insane article spinning the information I had just posted today about the records of President Obama's father's immigration records in a way that is just really stupid.
Pamela Geller, WND: An illegitimate child, an illegitimate president - Atlas Shrugs
It is interesting to note that BHO I claims in the documents to have divorced first wife, Kezia, "verbally." According to the Shariah, a man can divorce his wife by repeating it three times. Further, when BHO I returned to Kenya, he apparently lived with his first Kenyan wife and his American third wife, suggesting that the "divorce" he ostensibly secured to marry Dunham was a transitory ruse.Dumb! There is no proof of that. In ancient Judaism, Divorce was not much more elaborate than this wither to be considered legal. The other article I posted about on this issue explicitly explains that by 1964, Obama Sr said that he and the President's mother had been divorced.
That would make the president illegitimate. In 1787, illegitimate children had different rights. There is no way the founders of this great nation intended for an illegitimate child of a foreign bigamist to attain the highest, most powerful position in the new land.Um...nope! How dare she imply that people born out of wedlock deserve less right than people who were conceived by married parents. This is simply wrong. Since when has the United States legally ignores marriages and divorces just because they were in another country. Who says that 1787 laws are still in effect today. If they were then the President's father could have been executed for looking at a white woman let alone marrying a white woman.
All this means that President Barack Hussein Obama is not natural born. His father was not a U.S. citizen; he is, by that very fact, disqualified to serve as president of the United States. Those who believe that the "natural born" requirement is no longer relevant in our modern age are wrong. The Founding Fathers added this to the requirements for someone serving as president to make it difficult for a spy or traitor to attain the highest office in the land. Clearly, from Obama's performance, this is a considerable cause for concern. How does that conclusion follow. Just because a person's parents are not U.S Citizen does not mean that a person born on U.S. soil is not a citizen. This truly an epic failure in logic. Racism makes people do and think really stupid things.

An Open Letter to Harold Camping of Family Radio
James White has written an open letter to Harold Camping of Family Radio urging him to come to his senses. You can read it here:
An Open Letter to Harold Camping of Family Radio
What has Camping to say today given how wrong he was about May 21, 2011? James White responded to what Camping had to say. He quotes Camping and comments:
"We had all of our dates correct. We had all our proofs correct." "May 21 was a spiritual coming...He has come, in the sense that He now has the world under judgment." Well, I pretty well called that one, sadly. I had a feeling we would be stuck with this foolishness until October 21, 2011. What an amazingly foolish thing: "Well, folks, we only have 153 days to go, but, hey, we aren't going to put up billboards and stuff, we are going to play music and do teaching about how to live as a good Christian." Brilliant. I can't wait to see the video of this.

Was Barack Obama Sr. 'eased' out of Harvard, and America, for dating white women? | Capital New York
Here is something that many "Birthers" would not want to discuss. Was the President's father a victim of Racism? Given that it was the early 1960's he probably was. My father sure did experience a lot of racism at the same time. Obama Sr, further added on to his provblem by marrying and dating white women. Some thing that got American Black men killed a lot of times then. Getting kicked out of Harvard was obviously hurtful but Emmet Till was killed not even a decade before and he was only accused of whistling at a white woman.
Was Barack Obama Sr. 'eased' out of Harvard, and America, for dating white women? | Capital New York
We know that Barack Obama Sr. died young, disappointed about many things. One of them, I have to imagine, was that his education at Harvard was cut short. Until now, it has typically been said that he "gave up" his doctoral studies, but this file makes it clear that he was never given a choice about leaving Cambridge. Who knows how his life might have turned out if he had been allowed to stay? Maybe he would have become an economics professor at some Northeastern liberal arts college, maybe he would have played a little more of a role in his son's life, and maybe his son would have never written Dreams From My Father, which would have been too bad, because it is a fantastic book and an unparalleled source of insight into the president's personal history and character. At the the very least the file kept by the Immigration and Naturalization Service further confirms that the President's father was indeed married tohis mother and that the President was born in Hawaii. (In case there is still any doubt!!!)
For all the personal anguish described in that memoir, things turned out just fine for Barack Obama Jr. But we can't say the same for his father, who ended his life a disillusioned alcoholic, believing that he had been the victim of immense injustices. From reading this file, I think he had a pretty good case against the U.S. government.

Beggars All: Reformation And Apologetics: Harold Camping to Speak Tonight
Well, its May 23, 2011 and Harold Camping's predicted Rapture did not occur. Nothing. Nada. Guess that means the Apocalypse isn't going to happen when he said it would either? Not so much. How do I know? Simple. The Bible does not say the things Camping said the Bible says. I was wondering what Camping would say today. Looks like he is going to answer his critics today on his radio program. This...I gotta hear. Apparently his organization is just going to continue "business as usual". I don't know how they can do that!

RaptureFail | Harold Camping is SO wrong
I heard this particular website from James White's podcast from May 19th. It's a good idea:
The sad thing is that that Camping's delusions turn the Rapture and Biblical teachings to a mockery. The important thing to remember is that Jesus is going to be returning and we don't know when. We need to be ready. If by some miracle, Camping has guessed right I've got nothing to worry about because I am saved according to what the Bible says. More important question is what about you? Are you ready for when Jesus returns, even if it is not May 21st?

Joining in the RaptureFail project is really easy. Once 6pm Saturday has passed where you are, simply signup for an account on the website making sure you register your location. Once you’ve verified your account we’ll add your location to the RaptureFail map, building up a picture of all the places in theorld where Harold Camping’s prophecy has failed. Couldn’t be simpler! The site even summarizes Harold Camping's prophecy and points out some of its flaws. I agree with the following:
Once you’ve registered your RaptureFail, see what others are saying here.
As Christians who take the Bible seriously we believe that “prophecies” like these demean the church’s witness in the world. The purpose of this site is to demonstrate very clearly (and to mock gently) that this is a false prophecy and that Harold Camping is a false prophet.

Philip Greenspun's Weblog » Book of Mormon: South Park takes on theodicy
Philip Greenspun wrote a short review on a play that satires the Book of Mormon by the creators of South Park. the thing that caught my interest was that the play deals heavy in Theodicy. The reason I'm calling attention to this is because of one of the comments, in which the reader affirms and defends Mormonism. He defends the most esoteric and Biblical contradicting views ascribed to Mormonism. Most young Mormons you talk to now haven't heard this stuff let-alone defend it. I think it would be good to look at what the man says and hold it up against the Bible. My comments are in red.
Or better yet, the evening could be spent reading The Book of Mormon!
I haven’t seen the musical, but The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) theology brings several interesting things to the question of theodicy.
First it recognizes God’s omnipotence is limited, both by natural laws and his respecting our agency (freedom to choose actions, not consequences). For instance, on the natural law side, when God creates things, he does not do it ex-nihilo (see first law of thermodynamics) but through the process of organizing existing matter (or energy). Also, God will not force us to be good, he respects our freedom of choice, which is not to say there are no consequences for wrong choices or that he won’t help us to be good.
Paul wrote most of the New Testament. He wasn't just talking about himself but all of us too.
Second, many people suffer on earth, but when you understand The Plan of Salvation (described in The Book of Mormon) it is put into perspective, both that we all knew what we were getting into when coming to earth and that earth life (and the suffering here) is only a very small part of our existence, and that it helps us progress in two fundamental ways.
We all existed before birth as spirits and lived with our Heavenly Father before coming to earth, in fact before earth even existed. We were different from him in several ways, two being that he had an exalted body and he was more righteous than us. He presented a plan to us where by we could become more like him, and it consisted of us leaving his presence for a while by being born into mortality here on earth where we’d receive a body and be tried and tested and (hopefully) learn to choose the right.
And this is in the Bible where?!? The question here is what do you do if your theology conflicts with what the Bible says? The Book of Mormon disagrees with the Bible. They both can't be right. This is a different "plan of salvation" than the Bible presents to us.
All of us would sometimes choose the wrong and eventually die, losing our bodies, so a central part of our Heavenly Father’s plan was Jesus Christ and his mission to live a perfect life and save us from sin and from death through his Atonement and his Resurrection. Anyway, after resurrection, where we receive a glorified immortal body, we continue to live and progress. Originally when this plan was presented we knew that there would be opposition and pain here on earth, both by nature (earthquakes, floods, famine, etc) and by the choices of other men (rape, etc). Despite these chances for suffering, we believed out Heavenly Father that benefits we would receive from mortal life were much greater, and chose to come to earth. 1/3 of the spirits followed Lucifer and rebelled against God, Jesus Christ, and his plan and were expelled from his presence, yielding devils and all that jazz. Anyway, some friends are waiting on me to go out to dinner so there’s tons more check http://mormon.org
Mormons and Christians agree that Jesus is the way for salvation. We agree that Jesus lived a perfect life (free from sin) and He saves us from and death. However we mean very different things by "Atonement". We also mean very different things by what "eternal life" means. For a Christian it doesn't mean that a man becomes a god of his own planet over people living with his spirit lives, producing children. Considering the comment, it appears that the one who wrote it would agree, but that is not what orthodox Christianity teaches because it's not in the Bible. The Bible and the Book of Mormon can't both be true simultaneously. I've posted this video before but it appears that the commenter would have to agree with it as authentic Mormonism.

Also, God will not force us to be good, he respects our freedom of choice, which is not to say there are no consequences for wrong choices or that he won’t help us to be good.
Limited omnipotence is not omnipotence. God cannot be bound by natural laws because God created natural laws. Mormonism rejects the idea of God creating all reality out of nothing (ex-nihilo) and flies against what we know of from Physics. All of matter, time, space, natural laws like the laws of Thermodynamics, and energy came into being from the "Big Bang". God did more than just organize all of it, he created it. The Bible tells us that there is nothing that exists that God did not create.
3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
- John 1:3
We don't have the ability to be good on our own. All of our goodness comes from God himself.
For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. - Romans 7:18
I once asked a Mormon missionary to show me where this is in the Bible - that we knew what about what life on earth was going to be like before we were born. He couldn't. The Bible clearly teaches that God knew of us..,planned us...but it's about God's sovereign will not ours.
18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.
22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
- Romans 8:18-25
It's not that we don't have wills of our own, but God's will supersedes ours. Given that we are not able to even desire God on our own. If God does not replace our hearts of stone with hearts of flesh, there is no way we can be saved. God saves us despite ourselves. If He doesn't change us against our wills, we can't be saved.
5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.- Romans 8:5-8

Stan Lee's 'The Governator' Not Affected by Schwarzenegger Sex Scandal - ComicsAlliance | Comic book culture, news, humor, commentary, and reviews
Okay, I've posted on this silly idea of a cartoon and comic book staring Arnold Schwarzenegger as a superhero. I'm not sure which is worse, this show or the fiasco in his personal life of destroying his marriage and hurting his wife and children. I'd say the personal toll on his family is worse because at least the rest of us can choose not to watch or read the "Governator", but he and his family are stuck with the decisions he made. We need to pray for the family.

The Dunamis Word: False Prophet ~ Countdown To Apostasy
Elder Burnett has posted a great article about the major times in the past in 200 years people have gave dates for the rapture of the Church and points out that it's no different today than with Harold Camping's prediction of May 21,2011. It is a great article. I did read the Bible, that is why I disagree with Camping. Read it at the following link.

Calvinistic Cartoons: Not The Odyssey But "Theodicy"
Ever read something so brilliant that you wish that you had thought of it? I experience that often when I read Eddie Eddings blog. This was posted a while ago but it is just so awesome, I wanted to post it here so I will remember it.

Habakkuk the Embracer
Clung to God with his two questions:
Clung to God with his two questions:
Had God vacated His throne?
Should I order my tombstone?
All this violence and contention
Within Judah I might mention.
It seems that justice and devotion
Took a trip across the ocean!
God answers, Judah will be punished
Observe and wonder, be astonished
For I am raising up Chaldeans
Big, bad, ugly human be-uns.
So get this vision little Hab
You can put it on my tab
Sin always carries a heavy price.
I'll crush Babylon like a bag of ice.
Woe, Woe, Woe your boat
Gently down the stream
Return to me with all your heart
I've promised to redeem.
So live by faith and you will see
I've never been an absentee;
The Chaldeans were never fancy-free
I used them like an employee.
They're not getting out of this scot-free
When I "cross my heart" it's a guarantee
So you can have a Jubilee!
P.S. someday I will visit Galilee
My Son will hang upon a tree
That's when you'll really be set free!

Bart Ehrman’s New Testament Forgery Theory - Apologetics 315
Todd Wilken has had two very interesting programs on his podcast. In one episode he had Dr Bart Ehrman explain his theory that most of the Books of the New Testament are forgeries in that they were not written by whom the authors claimed to be. Most of the discussion centered around the 6 contested books that have been attributed to Apostle Paul. Ehrman thinks only 7 letters were really written by him. Ehrman also discussed his contention that Apostle Peter did not write 2 Peter. Wilken also had a followup program with Dr. John Warwick Montgomeryin which Montgomery interacted with Ehrman's statements and conclusions and explained why and where he disagrees. I'd really like to see these guys in a debate. I really appreciate Brian Auten calling attention to these and providing a link to an audio with the commercials edited out and both interviews back-to-back.
